Women Make History - In the early twentieth century, the U.S. Department of Agriculture established the Cooperative Farm Extension Service. As an experiment in education, Farm Demonstration Agents were hired to showed men in rural areas how to improve farming and agricultural practices. Women Make History tells the story of how Home Demonstration Agents taught farm women better methods for carrying out their household responsibilities while showing them to how to improve family living conditions through through home economics and the use of labor-saving devices. The home demonstration club spread quickly and soon reached beyond the individual family to become an important source of education and civic development in many communities.

The Planters Exchange - In 1926, in support of the emerging area shade tobacco industry, two entrepreneurial brothers, Tom and Ben Gregory, founded a farm supply store in downtown Havana, Florida they named The Planters Exchange. They incorporated in September 1931 bringing onboard three additional partners to The Planters Exchange. This is the story of how The Planters Exchange grew into the premier manufacturer of fertilizer, and supplier of pesticides, agricultural and general farm supplies needed by the shade tobacco industry in Gadsden County and neighboring communities for over 50 years.

This film draws heavily on the recollections and stories of veterans and citizens who lived in this area and from memories, primary source documents, and artifacts passed through to their descendants. The story of Havana in World War II is told largely through the voices of veterans, their families, and citizens who supported the war effort. Learn how the economic and social aspects of the war impacted the Gadsden County community, as well as how the war affected GIs and civilians, the role of women, and its impact to Black citizens.
